Jean and Irv Butler Recognized

On August 29th, 2006, we presented a special concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Amherst Town Band. 

Joining us in the band were Jean Butler, the band's founder and first conductor, and her husband Irv. Jean also took over the baton for several pieces.

Every year the band's board presents a scholarship award to a graduating high school student band member.  To recognize our appreciation of the Butlers, we announced that a new plaque that lists the scholarship winners now is inscribed "Amherst Town Band Scholarship Award Given in Honor of Jean & Irving Butler."
